Replacing 1996 Miata Radiator (DIY)

We decided it was time to replace the old, brown/olive green, original radiator on the Miata. This discoloration (originally black) is a sign that it is due to crack and break down.  The new radiator is from CSF radiators and is a slightly thicker aluminum radiator that will have better cooling capabilities for when we decides to turbo the car or even if we take it for a track day or AutoX event.

The things needed for this install include:

  • Phillips screw drivers
  • 12mm socket
  • 8mm socket
  • Dan
  • Kyle
  • Pliers to remove old hose clamps

There might be a couple of other socket sets like a 10mm, but if you are using sockets you probably have a whole set anyways!

Miata Front Brake Pads

As with any new to you car (used), there is often a couple of maintenance items that will need to be performed!

I noticed that when I was coasting off the brakes I could hear a little squeeking from the brakes.  I pulled the wheels off to inspect the pads and it turns out that my front brake pads were nearly worn out.

I took this opportunity to share with you how to replace your front brake pads!

Tools needed:

  • Me
  • Dan
  • Car Jack
  • Jack stands x2
  • Wheel wrench
  • 14mm socket
  • Socket wrench fits compatible with your 14mm socket
  • C-clamp to compress the piston
